Editor’s note: The last sentence in last month’s blog got cut off. It should have read, Oh, by the way that album of hers is extremely rare and therefore highly valued!
Sorry for the oversight.
Oops – I forgot to put in the answer for our Blues question for the April / May / June blog, so here it is. The bluesman we were looking for was/is Aaron “Little Sonny” Willis, born October 6, 1932, in Greensboro, Alabama. He worked with the local gospel singers/groups until he moved to Detroit in 1954. He worked with the “Washboard Willie” band in 1955, learning harmonica at that time. His “day job” was as a photographer. From the late 50’s through the early 70’s he recorded at different times for the Duke, JVB, Speedway (his own label), Revilot and Enterprise labels. His main influences were “Little Walter” Jacobs and Sonny Boy Williamson II. He is still performing in various clubs and festivals. Editor’s note: The last sentence in last month’s blog got cut off. It should have read, Oh, by the way that album of hers is extremely rare and therefore highly valued! Sorry for the oversight.
